FAQ | Alchemy Joy

Getting Started

Where should I begin if I’m new to Alchemy Joy?

We recommend Foundations & Orientation as the best starting point. This offering provides the essential context for our movement style and philosophy, ensuring you feel grounded before moving into deeper study.

Do I need prior yoga or movement experience?

No. Alchemy Joy is designed to be accessible to everyone. We emphasize options and self-pacing, allowing you to meet the practice where you are today rather than performing for an external standard.

Is Alchemy Joy religious or spiritual?

Our offerings are educational and experiential. While we use contemplative practices to build attention and inner coherence, the work is not religious or based on any specific belief system.

Courses, Workshops & Programs

What’s the difference between workshops, short courses, and long-form programs?

Workshops are usually one-day or seasonal entry points. Short courses run 4–6 weeks and focus on a specific theme. Long-form programs, such as our 12-week study, provide the deepest structure and guidance for sustained practice and integration.

Are courses drop-in?

No. We believe in intentional containers. Committing to a full course supports continuity, safety, and a shared learning environment that isn't possible in a drop-in format.

Can I take more than one offering at a time?

Yes, you may participate in multiple offerings if your personal capacity allows. However, we encourage sustainable pacing over intensity to ensure you have space to integrate what you learn.

ADEPT Membership

What is the ADEPT Membership?

ADEPT is an ongoing hybrid practice container.

Membership includes access to live classes, a private community client portal, and curated digital libraries that support ongoing learning and seasonal practice.

ADEPT is not a course and is not time-limited. You may cancel your membership at any time before the next billing cycle.

Safety, Health & Readiness

Is this medical or therapeutic treatment?

No. Alchemy Joy offerings are educational and experiential. They are not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment.

What if I have injuries or limitations?

We encourage self-responsibility and open communication. Our instructors provide modifications, and you are always invited to adjust the practice to suit your physical boundaries.

Is this appropriate during pregnancy?

Prenatal yoga is not offered as a public class or group program. If you are pregnant and would like support, prenatal-oriented practice may be available only as a private 1:1 session, by request, with medical clearance from your physician. Alchemy Joy does not provide medical advice and cannot verify safety for pregnancy.

Online & In-Person Participation

Can I participate online?

Yes. Most of our programs are offered in a hybrid or fully digital format to ensure accessibility regardless of location.

Where are classes held?

Most classes are offered in a hybrid format — in-person at American Combat Aikido Dojo (2941 Rt 73 South, Maple Shade, NJ 08052) and on Zoom. Private 1:1 sessions are available via Zoom, at the client’s preferred location, or at the dojo (by arrangement and availability). Specific details are always listed on the class or offering page.

Private Sessions

Do you offer private sessions?

Yes. Private one-on-one and small-group sessions are available via Zoom, at the client’s preferred location, or at the American Combat Dojo (by arrangement and availability). Private sessions allow for a more personalized focus on your goals and boundaries.

Digital Content & Recordings

Are recordings available?

Select offerings include access to recordings for a limited time to support those who cannot attend live sessions or who wish to review the material.

Are digital offerings refundable?

No. Once digital content has been accessed or courses have begun, we are generally unable to provide refunds.

Payments & Policies

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. A current waiver is required for all participants to ensure safety and clarity for everyone involved in the practice.

What happens if I miss a class?

Alchemy Joy is membership-based, so there are no class credits to manage. If you miss a live session, you’re welcome to return to your next scheduled class. When recordings are offered, this will be clearly noted on the offering page. Private sessions and special workshops may have separate attendance or rescheduling terms, which will be listed at registration.

Philosophy & Approach

What makes Alchemy Joy different from other studios?

Our emphasis is on structure, pacing, and nervous-system awareness. We view wellness as a long-term practice of integration rather than a performance-based achievement.

Is this intense or performance-based?

No. We prioritize sustainability over intensity. Our practices are repeatable and designed to support your life, not exhaust it.

Alchemy Joy is designed to support learning and practice that fits into real life. You are always encouraged to choose what aligns with your current capacity.
